About the Pilbara Disability Network
The Pilbara Disability Network is a community-led initiative committed to improving inclusion, connection, and opportunities for people with disabilities and their families across the region.
We work alongside individuals with lived experience, families, service providers, educators, community organisations, and local industry to build a more inclusive Pilbara—one where every person feels valued, supported, and empowered.
By joining our committee, you’re helping shape the direction of our advocacy, community events, partnerships, and local projects.

What Happens at the AGM?

All committee positions will be declared vacant.

Members can nominate for a position before or on the day.

The new committee will be elected for the next 12 months.

A brief overview of the year’s projects, events, and community impact will be shared.
Who Can Join the Committee?
Anyone who is:

Living with disability
-
A family member, carer, or support person
-
A community member passionate about inclusion
-
A representative from a local organisation or service
-
Someone who wants to use their skills, voice, and lived experience to make a difference
We strongly encourage people with disability and neurodivergent community members to nominate.

Committee Roles
The Chairperson leads the committee, ensuring meetings are well-organised and productive.

Consults with the Secretary about what topics will be covered at each meeting.

Leads both committee and general meetings to keep discussions focused.

Makes sure everyone has a chance to share their views and decisions are made fairly.

Meets with Stakeholders in the community to represent and advance the objectives of the network
Chairperson
The Deputy Chairperson supports the Chairperson and stands in when the Chairperson is unavailable.

Steps in to lead meetings if the Chairperson is absent.

Works with the Chairperson to ensure that meetings and tasks run smoothly.

Helps represent the Network and support the team’s decisions.
Deputy Chairperson
The Secretary manages communication, keeps records, and prepares for meetings

Handles correspondence (letters, emails) for the Association.
-
Prepares meeting notices and agendas with the Chairperson.

Keeps up-to-date records of members and committee roles.

Stores Association documents and meeting minutes safely and accurately.
Secretary
The Treasurer manages the Association’s finances, keeping track of income and expenses.

Collects payments, issues receipts, and ensures funds go into the right accounts.

Organises payments that have been approved by the committee.

Prepares financial reports and statements for the Association’s Annual General and Monthly Meetings.

Assists with financial audits and keeps financial records safe.
Treasurer
Ordinary Members contribute to discussions and decisions, supporting the committee’s work.

Attends meetings and shares input on issues affecting the Association.
-
Supports projects and activities as decided by the committee.
-
Acts as a representative for the disability community, helping ensure the Network’s decisions align with the community’s needs.
Ordinary Member
Town Representatives play a key role in ensuring the Pilbara Disability Network reflects the voices, needs, and strengths of communities across our region. Each representative acts as a local connector—sharing insights from their town, supporting community engagement, and helping guide the Network’s projects and priorities.

What Happens After You Nominate?
Once you submit your nomination:
You will receive a confirmation email.

Your nomination will be added to the list for the AGM.

At the AGM, all nominations will be presented and voted on.

If successful, you will be welcomed into the 2026 Committee.

A handover meeting and onboarding will be scheduled for early 2026.
